Got milk?

Lynne Goldman at Bucks County Taste posted this link to an interesting piece by Kristen Ridley about how returning to grass feeding might help save America’s dairy farms.

This brought to mind how many dairy farms used to be within an easy drive of us here in Trenton.  Besides the world famous Walker-Gordon Farm in Plainsboro, there were dairy farms in Hopewell and all over Burlington County.  New Jersey had a reported 3500 dairy farms in 1964.  There are fewer than 150 now.

Fortunately, there are operations like Cherry Grove Farm in Lawrenceville and Bobolink Dairy which just relocated to Hunterdon from Sussex County keeping that are returning to the tried and true grass fed dairy business.
